How Little Lights handles your family's information.

Our approach to privacy

Little Lights is designed to be a private place for Muslim individuals and families.

Some of the information people may choose to record—such as family relationships, prayer activity, religious routines, reflections and memories—is personal. We therefore aim to collect only what Little Lights needs, keep private family information private, and give families meaningful control over their information.

This Privacy Policy explains what information Little Lights may use, why we use it and the choices available to you.

Religious and other sensitive information

Information about prayer, Qurʾān reading, remembrance or other religious activity can be particularly personal. Where Little Lights allows you to record this information, it is used to provide the features you have chosen—for example, preserving progress or displaying information within your private family experience.

We do not sell this information, use it for targeted advertising, or use it to rank a person's faith or religious standing.

Information kept on your device

Some Little Lights information may remain on your device rather than being sent to our servers. Depending on the feature and platform, this may include reading preferences, reminder settings, unlinked reflections or information used to calculate local prayer times.

Where a feature can operate locally without uploading information unnecessarily, we prefer that approach where practical. For example, a timetable image selected for local prayer-time setup should not be uploaded unless Little Lights clearly tells you that an upload is required and asks you to proceed.

Location and prayer times

Little Lights may use location information when you choose features that require it, such as calculating local prayer times. Where possible, location should be used for the requested function rather than retained unnecessarily.

You may also be able to use manual prayer settings or a local timetable instead of location-based calculation.

Family information

When you link family members, certain information may become visible within that private family space according to the features and permissions available. Family information is not public by default.

Little Lights does not provide public child profiles, follower systems, public activity feeds or child-to-stranger messaging. Please only link another person or provide their information when you have permission or an appropriate parental or guardianship basis to do so.

Children's privacy

Little Lights is designed with children and families in mind. We aim to minimise the personal information collected from children and avoid requiring information that is unnecessary for the experience.

Depending on a child's age, location and the features being used, parental or guardian involvement or consent may be required. Parents and guardians may contact us regarding personal information associated with a child, including requests concerning access, correction, family linking or deletion.

We will continue adapting our account and consent processes to applicable children's privacy requirements in the countries where Little Lights is offered.

Sharing your information

We do not sell personal information. We do not sell family information to data brokers. We do not use private family information for targeted advertising or cross-app advertising tracking.

We may share limited information with service providers where necessary to operate Little Lights—for example, providers supporting authentication, secure hosting, data storage, email delivery, Qurʾān content or approved audio. Those providers should receive only the information reasonably necessary for the service they provide and may be subject to their own legal and contractual obligations.

We may also disclose information where legally required or where reasonably necessary to protect users, investigate abuse, prevent fraud or address a serious security issue.

Analytics and diagnostics

Little Lights may use limited technical information to understand crashes, performance problems and general service reliability. We aim to minimise this collection and avoid using private religious or family activity for advertising or behavioural profiling.

If we introduce additional analytics technologies, we will assess their privacy implications before deployment and update this policy where appropriate.

Keeping information secure

We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards intended to protect information against unauthorised access, loss, misuse or alteration. No online service can guarantee absolute security, so users should also protect their devices and account credentials.

How long we keep information

We aim to keep personal information only for as long as it is reasonably needed to provide Little Lights, meet legitimate operational or legal requirements, resolve disputes or protect the service.

Where information can reasonably be deleted after an account or feature is no longer used, it should not be retained indefinitely without reason.

Changes to this policy

Little Lights will continue to evolve. If our privacy practices materially change, we will update this policy and its “Last updated” date. Where appropriate, we may also notify users inside the service.
